Etiquette

• A well-known custom: Hungarians traditionally do not clink beer glasses — a habit dating to 1849; many still keep it, though it is now relaxed.
• Thermal-bath etiquette: shower before entering, and follow the posted rules for each pool.
• Tipping is about 10% — check whether a service charge is already on the bill before adding more.
• Use Bolt or a marked Főtaxi rather than flagging down an unmarked taxi.
