Vatican — St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. Suggested approach: tour the Vatican Museums, end at the Sistine Chapel, then walk over to St. Peter's Basilica.

Colosseum — the notes call for the 'Full Experience with Underground.'

The Colosseum (the Flavian Amphitheatre), completed in A.D. 80, seated more than 50,000 people. The 'Underground' is the hypogeum — the tunnels beneath the arena floor.
The Sistine Chapel ceiling and 'The Last Judgment' were painted by Michelangelo (the ceiling, 1508–1512). St. Peter's Basilica is the largest church in the world; Michelangelo designed its dome.
The Trevi Fountain is a Baroque masterpiece completed in 1762. Tradition says a coin tossed over your shoulder guarantees a return to Rome.
The Vatican Museums and the Colosseum require timed tickets bought in advance. St. Peter's and the Sistine Chapel enforce a dress code — shoulders and knees covered.
