1:00–2:00 — a cicchetti lunch (good areas: San Polo, Cannaregio, around Rialto but off the main path)
2:00–3:30 — pick one: (A) the Doge's Palace; (B) San Giorgio Maggiore — a short boat ride for the best views back toward Venice; (C) no museum, just walk
3:30–5:00 — walk back through Venice, the side canals, gelato, souvenir shopping, toward Santa Lucia station
